Andrea Ulrich

Senior Manager, BASF Management Consulting

My Job as Inhouse Consultant:

I joined BASF Management Consulting at the beginning of 2013. I manage complex integration and carve-out projects and advise the business areas on all matters related to integration and divestment. Within these projects, I am also responsible for my team colleagues’ further development. Together with those responsible for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) in the functional areas at BASF, I strive to constantly improve Post-Merger Integration (PMI) processes and methods.

My daily challenges:

BASF has very diverse business areas and highly varied products. In every one of my projects up to now, I have collaborated with a different business area – and in some cases with several areas at the same time. Each project is different and poses its own very specific challenges. That makes my work absolutely fascinating.

Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:

The topics we deal with are highly demanding and varied. In my day-to-day work, I can put my knowledge and experience to very good use. In addition, I have built up a very large network at BASF. This is supported very intensively by BASF. Of course, there is also a wide variety of opportunities for personal development in the course of projects or within the company.

What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:

We are part of the “Global Business Services” unit, work very closely with our strategy as well as M&A colleagues. Our unit is tasked with the most important projects at BASF. In addition, BASF is very international, and I work with colleagues from many different parts of the world every day. BASF has a very strong culture of appreciation. This is very important to me personally.

My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:

After completing my training in the banking sector and gaining a degree in business administration, I worked for a few years at a start-up company in the United States. I then entered the Mergers & Acquisitions area at a financial investment company. In my subsequent position in Corporate Development at a different company, I had the opportunity to be actively involved in the development and internationalization of the company and gain a great deal of experience working on strategy and corporate M&A projects.

What I like to do in my spare time:

I spend my free time with family and friends and I like to do sports.
