Svenja Riesche
Senior Consultant – REWE Group Inhouse Consulting
My Job as Inhouse Consultant:
In September 2018, I started my work at the internal consulting, first as a consultant and since last year as a senior consultant. During this time, I worked on strategic relevant projects for the REWE full range and PENNY. The projects had different emphases, sometimes with a stronger focus on conception and business case invoices, sometimes more on concept development and implementation.
In addition to the projects, I work with colleagues on training and development opportunities for colleagues.
My daily challenges:
For each project, cooperation and coordination with other departments and functions with the group is important. In the exchange, you can learn a lot about the processes within, similarities and differences between Rewe and Penny. Every project benefits from an open exchange and the combination of different perspectives.
Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:
The opportunity to work on several projects and for the long-term for the success of a company, we get to know many colleagues from other areas and departments. Many of the projects we work on are related and it is fun to work with colleagues and all projects towards a common goal.
A productive cooperation, support of colleagues, a motivated team, good mood among each other are some important factors for me and here in the Inhouse Consulting Team fully fulfilled and characterize the work.
What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:
Working on strategic projects and topics of major importance to the entire group.
With each day to better, understand the Rewe Group as a company: details, relationships, backgrounds, differences and similarities between Rewe and Penny.
In addition, with the project completion, the responsibility for the topic is not over, but one gets further points with during the implementation.
My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:
I did my Bachelor in International Business in Maastricht, with a semester abroad in Sydney. After that, I did internships in the automotive and consumer goods sectors. Afterwards I did my master’s degree at the University of Mannheim with a focus on Operations Management.
After living in other cities for six years, I moved back to Cologne and started working for Accenture Strategy. Here I had the chance to work on many exciting international projects in various industries for more than two years. Over the years, I found the projekts and tasks related to the retail industry super interesting and so the application at REWE was the next step…
What I like to do in my spare time:
There are many things to discover, including new cities and countries.
And of course, meet friends, go for a coffee, breakfast or dinner. There are so many beautiful places in Cologne, I am still on a discovery tour – you do not always have to travel far to discover something new.
