Esther Reuther
Senior Project Manager Operational Excellence – BASF SE Ludwigshafen
Practice Group: Transformation Enablement
My Job as Inhouse Consultant:
I joined the Inhouse Consulting division of BASF about 5 years ago. Before that, I gained experience in a similar role in the automotive industry.
My current assignment is in the Transformation Enablement team at BASF Operational Excellence Consulting. It involves identifying and implementing process improvements that help to enhance operational efficiency within the whole organization. In essence, we are striving to improve operational performance and increase profitability. Our focus is to identify and eliminate waste, reduce defects, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction. With our recommendations being implemented, my colleagues and I drive transformational change and realize tangible business results for our internal partners. I love how our team promotes creative thinking while focusing on achieving specific business objectives and key results.
My daily challenges:
Working as a consultant is an everyday challenge. The constant change that comes with it keeps me engaged and excited about my job – even though it can be mentally demanding to manage multiple projects simultaneously. I feel like I’m constantly growing both professionally and personally. For the time being, I can’t imagine doing anything else!
Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:
Working within the BASF Inhouse Consulting team has been a rewarding experience for me. What I appreciate most is that we can all learn from and fully trust each other.
What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:
Every day has a new challenge, different questions to answer, and collaboration opportunities with a diverse group of colleagues who bring their expertise and unique perspectives to the table. It’s rewarding to see how we all work together within BASF to push the company forward step by step.
My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:
I started my career as an apprentice at Daimler. After that, I studied International Business and Foreign Trade. I then worked first as a Supply Chain Manager for several years before joining the Inhouse Consulting team at Daimler. Before joining BASF, I spent over four years leading strategic projects for the board of a big family-owned company.
What I like to do in my spare time:
My biggest hobby is my family: my 11-year-old daughter, my husband, and our Labrador dog. I also love hiking, cooking with friends, and playing the piano.
However, if someone asked my husband what my biggest hobby was, he would probably say, “to go shopping.”
