My life before joining Merck KGaA, Germany, Darmstadt Inhouse Consulting
I have completed university degrees in Business Mathematics and Business Administration / International Management. Several strategy- and consulting-related internships showed me already relatively early during my studies that consulting could be a great career path for me. After my graduation, I joined McKinsey & Company, before I eventually joined Merck KGaA, Germany, Darmstadt.

I was looking for a great opportunity to make the transition from external consulting to the industry and Merck KGaA, Germany, Darmstadt attracted me a lot with its three very innovation-driven, diverse business sectors and appealing company culture. When I came across Inhouse Consulting, I felt that Inhouse Consulting provided “the best of both worlds” with a clear focus only on Merck KGaA, Germany, Darmstadt, yet the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects across the company.

Thanks for the pleasant conversations with future peers and managers during the interview process, I developed a good understanding of the model at Inhouse Consulting already before joining, so there were not many big surprises after joining. However, I was not aware of the extent how different the approach to client interactions as an internal consultant would actually be. We are "colleagues" to our clients and not external service providers. This enables us to pursue a more collaborative, pragmatic and impact-oriented working style, which I truly appreciate.
