Carla Mertes

Project Manager

My Job as Inhouse Consultant:

Our customer, Deutsche Telekom AG, is constantly changing. At the Center for Strategic Projects, we support strategic projects and shape tomorrow’s trends.

My daily challenges:

As a project manager, I am the first contact person for my team and for the customer. I enjoy working with my colleagues and developing solutions which help our customers. In addition, I take care of our internal topics such as training our consultants to become agile coaches. This enables me to focus on a variety of other topics besides my project topics.

Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:

Instead of long-term projects, we support the top management in specific strategic issues. Our corporate knowledge and network are immense. This, in turn, adds a great deal of value to the projects. Unlike external consultants, we can observe very well – even long after a project has been completed – what our decisions effect within the group. This makes our work tangible and motivates me.

What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:

Our team at CSP is unique: we are performance-driven, dynamic and development-oriented, but above all we pull together and are fair. This is great fun every day!

My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:

I studied International Business in Maastricht and Nuremberg. After my studies and stations in Seoul, Shanghai and Beijing, I worked in external management consulting for three years.

What I like to do in my spare time:

I ride dressage and train my own horse on a daily basis. I enjoy the responsibility, the daily optimization and further developments! On weekends you can find me with family and friends, in nature, at sports events or in bookshops looking for the next non-fiction book.
