Project Leader – Strategy & Consulting, REWE Group
I have been with the REWE Group inhouse consulting team since January 2015 and involved in numerous projects. In my current assignment, I optimize ways of working for our retail stores – to define standards and to generate more time for better customer service. By being deeply involved in essential business processes of our retail stores, I built a sound understanding of the key performance drivers for a successful retail store.
Daily challenges vary strongly by type of project and project stage. The main task in my current project is to drive change across multiple people across the entire sales organization. Introducing new approaches and ways of working demands intensive change management.
Our inhouse consulting team is working closely with the executive board. Our projects do make a difference for the organization and I enjoy actively shaping the future of REWE. Quite different from an external management consulting firm, our team not only involved in concept creation but also implementation activities. We are making sure that new ideas and solutions are being created and have a lasting impact on the organization.
From grocery stores to the tourism business – the REWE Group offers a whole world of opportunities. However, all my past projects with the REWE Group have been in the space of food retail so far. Previously, I’ve been working for a large consumer goods company, so the shift from producer to retailer has been quite interesting. I especially like the hands-on mentality of the food industry and its direct and large effect on the lives of everyone. In addition, I have great colleagues to work with – within our consulting team as well as across the entire REWE organization.
I grew up in the city of Hamburg and first started with a bachelor’s degree in marketing while working for a large multinational consumer goods company. Afterwards I complimented these studies with a master’s degree from the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. To get a more global perspective, I moved to the U.S. and completed an MBA program in Hawaii and Boston. Back in Germany, I first joined a global food company as brand manager and later worked as a consultant for a large strategy consulting firm, helping consumer goods client and their brands across Europe to win in digital.
On the side, I founded a food start-up selling matcha tea from Japan across different digital channels in Germany. This way, I have the privilege to start every morning with a fresh cup of matcha tea. Otherwise, I love to explore new countries and to meet fascinating people. At home I just started to teach my young son how to swim and I cannot wait for the day to come to go surfing with him at Waikiki Beach.
