My Job as Inhouse Consultant:

My job as Consultant for DHL Consulting revolves around working on Business Consulting and Supply Chain Consulting projects for Deutsche Post DHL Group, its customers and external companies. Since I joined DHL Consulting in November 2016, I have had the opportunity to work on diverse topics from program set-up and coordination to strategy development and project management. Further, I also support our recruiting initiatives and undertake internal assignments.

My daily challenges:

On a high-level, my daily work involves understanding client’s problems and recommending pragmatic solutions, backed my detailed research and analysis depending on the project scope. Every new project brings with it a new topic, a new client and a new project team. While dealing with diverse clients, building trust and rapport in a short period of time and adjusting working mode to client needs is essential. This in turn provides a very steep learning curve and the confidence to adapt quickly to changing environments.

Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:

Working with DHLC, I get to be a part of an open and welcoming culture amidst talented colleagues with diverse backgrounds and personalities. This is especially important in consulting as we work in small teams and spend a lot of time with our colleagues. The unique business model of DHLC where consultants also get the opportunity to work on interesting supply chain consulting projects outside the Group ensures that they develop industry expertise. In a nutshell, the dynamic and friendly atmosphere with early responsibilities, the extensive support for cultural immersion, a structured career path and a strong alumni network makes working at DHLC very attractive.

What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:

My main motivation to work as Inhouse Consultant is that while addressing diversified strategic issues, we not only develop strategic concepts but we are also a part of the implementation and see the impact of our work. Binding recommendations and accountability instills a sense of trust and collaboration as we work very closely with the client teams, thereby gaining deep insights into the business of operations. Since our customers are also our colleagues, we are further motivated to deliver sustainable results.

My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:

Before joining DHLC, I completed my Masters in Business Management (Grande Ecole) from HEC Paris specializing in Strategic Management. During this time, I took a gap year pursuing the International Honors Program at Stanford University, and internships in Corporate Venture Capital with Siemens and Product Management with an internet startup in Munich. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from India. Through my techno-managerial background, I was interested in a role where I could leverage my technical skills in business strategy, and this led me to inhouse consulting.

What I like to do in my spare time:

Travelling, going to the cinema and baking. My love for coffee takes me exploring cafes in new and exciting places. I also spend time on improving my German on weekends.
