Alexander Pech
Analyst, DB Management Consulting
My Job as Inhouse Consultant:
I joined DB Management Consulting as an analyst in January 2019 after completing my Master’s. I am responsible for specific packages of tasks or sub-projects within our projects. My responsibilities include holding client meetings and workshops, preparing analyses for different issues, and developing documents for the different committees at Deutsche Bahn.
My daily challenges:
Deutsche Bahn is an incredibly complex company that offers an excellent product.
We are one of the first points of contact for top management when it comes to tackling challenges, including strategic ones, in different fields – whether those challenges are in digitalization, human resource planning or heavy maintenance. We work in close consultation with clients to develop the right solutions and then bring them to life by initiating implementation and keeping implementation moving along.
Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:
It’s really gratifying to see that even at a company as large as Deutsche Bahn you can make changes in a relatively short time that benefit end customers or improve work for your colleagues. Teamwork is one of the best parts of our day-to-day work. Project team members really get to understand each other quickly and always have a lot of fun, even after longer work sessions.
What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:
Deutsche Bahn’s size means that there is a never-ending supply of interesting challenges to work on in each of the different fields. I like that project teams are able to dive into these challenges quickly and ultimately play a key role in shaping future mobility.
My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:
How different people are and what motivates them has always been fascinating to me. That’s why I studied psychology. After spending a semester abroad, I wanted to try out different, non-traditional ways of putting my psychology degree to use. I spent a gap year working at a major bank and at DB Management Consulting. I kept in contact with my colleagues while working on my Master’s and then joined DB Management Consulting after another semester abroad.
What I like to do in my spare time:
I’ve been singing in a choir since I was a child. A few friends and I started a men’s choir after graduating from high school, and we’ve become quite successful. We’ve gone on tour, which has allowed us to travel a lot, including to Japan and South America. Traveling is one of my passions, and what’s better than traveling with good friends and making music?
