Amy Petrini

Management Consultant, BASF Management Consulting

My Job as Inhouse Consultant:

I joined BASF Management Consulting in March 2016 in Ludwigshafen. Since then I have worked primarily on Merger & Acquisition (M&A) projects. Though in general we work across the various practice groups of our team.

My daily challenges:

Internal Consulting requires the ability to handle complex scenarios and deal with uncertain or incomplete information. This provides great challenges and development opportunities in our daily work. The size and history of BASF means that the opportunities to learn are infinite and this is highly motivating for me.

Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:

Since I did not have external consulting experience prior to joining BASF I find the chance to be exposed to many projects and learn from my colleagues really fantastic. Our team comes from many different educational, professional and geographic backgrounds, creating a unique team environment.

What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:

For me the chance to work as a Management Consultant at BASF is primarily to learn a lot about the company in a short time. And from here I look forward to further developing my career in the longer term within BASF.

My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:

I started my career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Melbourne, Australia becoming a Chartered Accountant. From there I moved with PwC to Hong Kong where I spent five years mainly working in Internal Strategy in the energy sector with regional responsibility. Subsequently, I completed my MBA at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain before joining BASF after graduation.

What I like to do in my spare time:

As I am an Australian who has lived in multiple locations I spend a lot of my free time traveling to visit family and friends around the world. When I am home in Germany I enjoy cooking, hiking and meeting friends.
